The stress of the business in early climb cost me a lot of relationships. Sad thinking about family and friends impacted by my absence, in many ways.

On-top of other than suffering such as my health, but I'll spare you with that story. Thankful, in the best shape of my life now and I haven't touched alcohol in 15 months. Completely sober. Crazy how much of life I was missing.

When there's a will, there's a way, really it's a sacrifice to be paid.

Those first couple years of my sales career probably knocked a few years off my life! haha. If you been in sales long enough or got started young, you understand. Most the greats are fueled up on caffeine, nicotine, and adrenaline rush finding the next deal.

In fact, the National Association of Realtors reports that

87% of all new agents fail

and are out of business within the first five years. Reflecting back,
I can remember only making


$11k in my first year

of being self-employed in sales before cracking the code.

Yes, that was gross income!

After expenses, it was about $7,000 in take-home pay.

It’s pretty embarrassing even telling you this.

Whatever, we can laugh together about it.

Understand everything BIG started SMALL.

If you do the math accounting for the time I invested,

I earned less than minimum wage!

And it’s


downright heartbreaking

that brokers don’t give you an accurate, fair picture of what it’s going to be like at first. When you pass the real estate test, brokers clamor over you like sharks . . . or at least it seems that way.

IT REALLY FELT SPECIAL.

You receive mailers and calls from every brokerage, each proclaiming their company as the best thing since sliced bread. Ha! Of course, I eventually wised up and realized that


recruiters were just

buying my information (and the information of thousands of new agents just like me).

I

t turned out, I was just a number to them.

And their systems were far from perfect. . .

Here are some of the


biggest pitfalls,

I’ve seen in traditional brokerages since I started:

● You are only as valuable as your database.
You’re mined for your connections, and, once your broker has that precious list, you’re


useless to them. ALL ABOUT FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIST.


There are NOT predictable marketing systems in place to generate good QUALITY leads.This goes for independent agents, too. Most agents are not born marketers, so how can you be expected to learn the ins and outs of


complex marketing systems like Google SEO, Pay Per Click advertising, Facebook advertising, third-party algorithm systems, complex apps, which new tech is real deal vs shiny object and more?

If you’re wondering where your next commission check is coming from, you sure as heck don’t have the extra money to spend (or lose) testing new systems.

YOU ARE paralyzed looking for your next REAL ESTATE DEAL. Buyer or Seller, doesn't matter even tho praying for a listing deep down :)

so A/B SPLIT TESTING was over my head. or i was thinking who has time for that.

Seriously thinking, well most the old timers that are brokers not into all that.

So who is...

Who does?


That’s because most brokers don’t really know how to find pools of buyers and sellers.
You’re taught how to write a contract, but don’t expect to be led to clients. Why don’t most brokers know how to find clients? Because their


business model relies on finding more agents, not more clients. Or, grow the team and collect your monthly rent check—you won’t need commission checks.


There’s very little supportto help you take your career to the next level.
Many brokerages rely on the power of their “brand” to provide value to agents—give ‘em the logo and let ‘em run. Support staff are unnecessary overhead that compromises their profit structure. Agents are left on an islands, left to fend for themselves.


There’s no accountability or mentorship. They invest in agents just enough to keep them around. Throw them access to a generic coaching program that's old and outdated for modern times, and let agents like you and I sink or swim. and you are more than likely swimming now.

I did my fair share of doggy paddling, didn't sink. LUCKLY.

Given these problems,

spend their careers

jumping from brokerage to brokerage like a game of Frogger.

Looking for the magic pill, or even an easy button.

And I don’t blame them.

No agent should have to tolerate inconsistent income.

No agent should have to be on call 24/7 unless they want to be. Burnout shouldn’t be a monthly occurrence without much to show for it or flat out no sales. Frustrating. When watching others clothes, ridiculous amount of volume. Like why them and where do they get the business from?

But that’s what happens without support:

Life becomes unbalanced, chaotic, and unprofitable.

I don’t know any ultra-successful agents who run their life like that.

And even if you can invest back into your business and hire an admin person to help, good luck! That opens up a who other set of needed skills and problems.

Let me explain.

It’s costly and time-intensive to hire someone, train them, and manage them.

And if they leave, you have to do it all over again!

Basically starting from scratch.

According to NAR, the average full-time Realtor makes $42k per year BEFORE EXPENSES.
Doesn't sounds like the American dream to me.

After expenses, that’s thousands of dollars less than America’s median family take-home income: $50,000. Of course, even $42k is better than the other 50% of licensed agents who never sell a home, ever. nope ever, ever.

Since I started as an agent,
